Hayley's Story
Note: This is Michelle's Stewart's account of the events, not Hayley's. This information has been taken from the recordings of the court hearing in relation to the AVO sought by Michelle Stewart against Pete Geary in 2011. Michelle recorded the hearing, and provided the recordings to John Aster during a time when she was using him against Geary. Both the applicant and the defendant were under oath giving their evidence. Pete Geary has been offered the opportunity to give his side of the story, but to date has declined to do so.
In 2011, Michelle Stewart took Pete Geary to court and obtained an AVO (Apprehended Violence Order) against him for stalking her online. Under oath, Michelle told the Magistrate the story of how Geary paid about $800 for tickets for himself and 14 year old Hayley to take a trip to Darwin. The girl, according to Michelle, didn't want to go but her father made her because he didn't want to repay Geary for the tickets. On her return from Darwin, Hayley had changed.
It is no secret that Michelle Stewart left her daughter with Pete Geary in January 2010 to straighten her out when she was in her early teens. Hayley was running wild, following the suicide of her brother, Nathan, on the 3rd of April 2005. Geary's Australian organisation BUACA (Bikers United Against Child Abuse) purported to support children and young people who were running amok or who needed support after sexual abuse. In reality, BUACA was made up of people who wanted to be supportive, but who in fact knew nothing about the needs of damaged children and young people and had no qualifications to deal with them. Geary advised Michelle that he would take Hayley through grief counselling and straighten her out, but he had no ability to actually do it.
Eventually, Hayley began to disclose sexual assault by Geary. Hayley disclosed in explicit detail to DHS that Geary had been plying her with alcohol and drugs, and that he had assaulted her while they were both drunk. She claimed that it was occurring every time he drank. Michelle provided pictures to her friends of Hayley drinking Vodka at Pete Geary's home. Hayley also alleged that Geary had been giving her benzodiazepines while she had been staying with him. It is not a medication that a GP would prescribe for a 14-year old child. She disclosed that on one occasion she had been given three pills to take, and that she had passed out almost immediately after taking them.
Michelle asked Geary for Hayley's care plans1, but he was unable to provide any. He said that the girl didn't have any, and began to get defensive. Soon after, although he had not at that time been told about the child's disclosures, Geary tried to pre-empt any accusations being made by telling his Facebook followers that an allegation would be made at some time in the future that he had sexually abused Michelle's daughter. His stated intention was to close down the Facebook page for BUACA pending the sexual abuse allegations. Allegations that he had no way of knowing were coming - unless perhaps they were true.
On hearing of the allegations made about him by Hayley and her mother Geary began a vicious rampage against them. He had his biker friends threaten Michelle, and he made a post accusing the girl of being a liar and wanting to be molested. It did not work in his favour. Few victim groups would condone such violent outbursts, even if the allegations were untrue.
1 Care plans are the documentation that an organisation will maintain to ensure consistent care and counselling to a client.
Regardless of the allegations made about Pete Geary's conduct with Hayley Van Hostauyen, readers should remember that an allegation is not neccessarily a fact. Geary was not charged with or convicted of any crime in relation to her. it is not the purpose of this website to determine whether any assault on Hayley took place. That matter is best left for more appropriate authorities. Nevertheless, Hayley has cleared Pete Geary of the rape allegation, voluntarily giving clear notice on a recorded conversation with a documentary-maker that she was not raped. She still maintains that she was the victim of sexually motivated contact by Geary.
"#TeamTroll owes their target an apology. So do a lot of other people. This investigation has uncovered irrefutable proof that the 10-year-long criminal harassment and cyberstalking spree targeting an innocent Brisbane, Australia man was based on a lie. A fabrication. A 'made-up' accusation."
